Title: Investment Analyst / Equity Trader – Tactical Asset Allocation

POSITION SUMMARY


 

The Equity Products group is part of the Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA) department. The group is responsible for all equity execution, equity index beta management and the management of equity based value add strategies. This position, as part of our trading team, will be responsible for implementing optimal trading strategies for our required equity transactions, monitoring news and market conditions and reviewing and analyzing transaction costs. The position will report directly to the Head of Equity Trading.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


 

  • Execution of cash equities and equity derivatives
  • Provide market intelligence and stock information to portfolio managers and analysts
  • In conjunction with the Head of Trading, develop equity trading implementation strategies
  • Use of execution management and order management systems to implement required trades
  • Liaison with operations - Leverage technology to implement equity trading strategies
  • Act ethically at all times to ensure transactions and procedures are followed in accordance with any and all industry regulations and company policies
  • Keep up to date with industry and regulatory organizations related to equity trading issues
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with the brokerage community
  • Utilize and keep current on transaction cost analysis (TCA) process

QUALIFICATIONS


 

  • 1-3 years of experience trading in capital markets
  • Derivatives experience an asset
  • Completed Bachelor/Masters degree in Business or STEM field
  • Canadian Securities Course, Trader Training Course, related CSI course and CFA designation an asset
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills and experience with data analysis
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, experience with Bloomberg a plus
  • Proficiency with Execution Management (EMS) and Order Management (OMS) systems
  • Ability to analyze complex market issues, make decisions quickly, and respond under pressure
  • Knowledge of transaction cost analysis - Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • Creative thinking and ability to apply to our operations
  • Professional work ethic and positive attitude

Trading Analyst
